Inter Milan are weighing up the possibility of tabling a huge bid for Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane, according to a report.
The Express claims that the Serie A side are willing to stump up £35million in order to prise the 25-year-old away from Anfield this summer, despite him only signing a five-year contract with the Reds last year.
It is understood that Mane is a long-term target of European giants Inter, who have already splashed the cash this summer on defender Milan Skriniar, who arrived for £20million from Sampdoria.
Mane had a brilliant debut season on Merseyside after signing from Southampton in 2016.
He scored 13 goals and supplied eight assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, but was forced to miss most of the end of the campaign due to a knee injury.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may not be willing to see the Senegal international leave as he is already facing the prospect of potentially losing Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.
The Express claims that the Spanish titans are not giving up their pursuit of the Brazilian playmaker, despite having a bid of £72million already rebuffed by the Reds with Klopp insisting that he isn’t for sale.
Football Insider Verdict
Liverpool need to be really careful that they aren’t forced into selling this summer, but it just goes to show how well the side did last season with the teams that are now circling their players. Like Coutinho, Mane is an invaluable member of Klopp’s squad, and the German manager should look to rebuff any approach made for him. The fact that he cost the Reds £34million last summer and that Inter are only willing to pay £1million is a good enough reason to reject an offer of that much. Mane still has four years on his contract and due to his age and record in front of goal, the Reds should demand at least £50million for him. Either way they simply shouldn’t sell.
