International flyer will head to Newcastle in July, decision on agreement looks certain - report

Achraf Lazaar will head back to Newcastle United in July when his loan spell at Benevento ends, according to a report.
The Newcastle Chronicle claims that Lazaar, 26, has been frozen out at the Serie A strugglers in the wake of them signing former Manchester City star Bacary Sagna on a free transfer.
It is understood that Benevento have the option to buy Lazaar on a permanent basis in the summer, but it looks certain that they will decide not to take up the agreement that was reached in last year when the Morocco international exited St James’ Park.
Lazaar will still have three years left on his deal at Newcastle once he makes his way back to Tyneside at the end of the campaign.
The left-sided flyer has only made nine appearances for Benevento in all competitions, scoring one goal which came against Lazio in October.
The report says that manager Roberto De Zerbi does not rate the former Palermo player and has opted against registering him in his 25-man squad for the second half of the season.
Football Insider verdict
Lazaar’s career appears to have hit a wall. He could not get into the Newcastle team while they were in the Championship and now he cannot get into the team that is rooted to the bottom of Serie A. The Magpies have made a lot of poor decisions in the transfer market over the years and Lazaar’s arrival from Palermo is certainly one of them. He is not up the standard and must be sold in the summer. Having the Morocco international on the wage bill is a drain on resources, so even letting him leave for free at the end of the season is better than nothing.
