'It helps them' - Exclusive: Paul Robinson reacts to key Liverpool development

Paul Robinson has claimed Liverpool losing at Vicarage Road on Saturday night may help the team achieve more glory this season.

The former Spurs and Leeds goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, suggested Jurgen Klopp can now focus on the Champions League with “no danger” of not winning the domestic title.

A brace from Ismaila Sarr and one goal from Troy Deeney sealed a 3-0 victory for the Hornets and ended the Reds 44-game unbeaten run in the Premier League.

The record stretched back to January 3rd, 2019 when they lost 2-1 to Manchester City, their only loss during the 2018/19 campaign.

When asked for his insight into how the players would have reacted to the loss in the dressing room, Robinson told Football Insider: “The word will be that it is one of those days at the office.

“They are in no danger of not winning the league. I do not think there will be any worry in the Liverpool dressing room.

“In a way, it probably helps them because now they are not going to the end of the season unbeaten. Once the Premier League is won they can focus more on the Champions League.

“They can change their team up in the Premier League without the thought of being unbeaten. They can express themselves in Europe once they have won the Premier League.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side remains 22 points clear at the top of the Premier League as they appear destined to end a 30-year wait for the league title.

The Champions League holders will have to overcome a 1-0 deficit to Atletico Madrid at Anfield next week if they are to retain the trophy.
