There has been quite a lot of talk about there being a title race in the Scottish Premiership after Celtic dropped two points at home to St Johnstone in a goalless draw.
This result, coupled with Rangers’ 5-3 win over Hamilton means that the gap between the Glasgow rivals – and Aberdeen – is down to nine points.
All the excited chatter seems to come from the fact that the gap between the teams can be cut to six points if Rangers defeat Hearts on Saturday and Aberdeen defeat Celtic on Sunday.
For a start, there is no guarantee that the Gers – who have been poor at home this season – will defeat Craig Levein’s side.
Secondly, even though they are playing in Russia on Thursday, the Hoops have a great recent record against Aberdeen, and have win their last seven league matches against them.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have thrown away too many silly points this season, which is why they haven’t been able to stretch their lead at the top like they did last season.
A convincing win over Aberdeen will show that they mean business and will quickly put a stop to any talk of a title race.
Should they lose to Aberdeen however…things could become very interesting.
In other Celtic news, the Hoops need to stand up and be counted in two huge matches this week
