Alan Hutton has predicted Celtic will receive a “big offer” for Odsonne Edouard and claimed £40million would be enough to seal his exit this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender suggested that the Hoops could have their resolve tested with a sizeable bid for their star man.
Edouard has hit 23 goals in all competitions fo the Bhoys so far this term, prompting Chris Sutton to argue that he is worth £40 million in the current market.
But while Hutton is sceptical about that price tag, he does predict that a summer exit to a Premier League club is on the cards.
“£40 million is very high,” he told Football Insider.
“Don’t get me wrong, I think if somebody came in with a £40 million bid Celtic would bite their hand off.
“I think he’s a great player. He has all the attributes to be a top, top player. He’s very young, he scores goals, he’ll hold the ball up. He’s really got everything in the locker.
“But obviously he’ll get property tested if he goes down south. I believe he can [do well in England].
“£40 million is a very high number, but again, he’s a very good player. He really does make Celtic tick. He’s the main man.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if there was a big offer for him in the summer.
“£40 million? I’m not so sure, that’s a very large amount, but it will be big, it will be high. It’d have to be for Celtic to sell.”
Edouard joined Celtic on a permanent deal from PSG for a fee of around £9 million in 2018, having spent the previous campaign on loan at Parkhead.
Over the course of his career in Glasgow he has hit 56 goals and 28 assists in 119 outings for the Bhoys in all competitions.
