Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed Rangers target John Lundstram would jump at the chance to move to Ibrox.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England striker suggested Sheffield United’s woeful form means the 26-year-old would be keen to leave in January.
The Blades are rock bottom of the Premier League after picking up just two points from their opening 16 games.
Lundstram, 26, is currently in the middle of a three-game suspension after picking up a red card against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Englishman is out contract at the end of the season and Chris Wilder admitted: “Him [Lundtram] and his agent have made a decision that he doesn’t want to sign”.
Football Insider understands that Rangers, Crystal Palace and Burnley are all interested in signing the midfielder when his contract expires.
Asked by Football Insider whether Lundstram would be tempted by a January move, Agbonlahor said: “I think so. He’s a quality player.
“I’ve heard he’s not agreed a contract, maybe that’s wages they can’t agree. If Rangers can pay the money that he wants then maybe it suits him.
“I’m sure if anybody’s got a chance to leave Sheffield United at the moment, the way they’re playing, I’m sure they would.
“Rangers are a massive club that I’m sure he would love to go and play for.”
Lundstram has played 100 times across all competitions for Sheffield United since his move from Oxford United in the summer of 2017.
He missed just four Premier League games last term as the Blades finished ninth.
