Jack Grealish's pal issues emphatic claim amid 'big' Man City prediction

Jack Grealish will not be bothered he did not feature for Man City in their dramatic 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Sunday (23 May) as they clinched the Premier League title.

That is the view of Grealish’s friend and ex-Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old’s season.

Grealish ended the campaign with six goals and four assists in 39 games across all competitions and was an unused substitute against Villa.

And Agbonlahor has backed him to kick on next term after a “big” pre-season.

He told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley: “I don’t think he’ll mind [that he didn’t come on].

“It’s not about who comes on. Pep brought on Gundogan who scored twice. Pep probably didn’t want to bring on a player with such a strong affiliation with Aston Villa in such an important moment. He made the choice to bring Gundogan on and it worked.

“Jack won’t care, all he will care about is winning the Premier League, something that kids dream about.

“He will know that he will do better next season, he’ll demand of himself to do better next season.

“People try to victimise Jack when other players have taken a season to adapt to Pep Guardiola and the way his team play.

“I’m more than positive that next season Jack will be a lot better next season and he will have learnt a lot this season.

“He will be happy with his season and will know that he can do better next season. I’m sure he will be working hard in pre-season to do better next season.

“He didn’t get on against Villa but at the end of the day he’s a Premier League winner and nobody can ever take that away from him.

“He can enjoy himself then be back for England duty then enjoy the summer before getting back for a big pre-season.”
