James Maddison 'mad' to reject Newcastle United after source's reveal - pundit
Frank McAvennie has claimed James Maddison would be “mad” to turn down a move to Newcastle United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said it “won’t be long” before Newcastle add some silverware under Eddie Howe.
Last week (25 February), sources told this site that the 26-year-old is “ready” to quit Leicester City this summer.
Maddison‘s current contract runs until 2024 but is keen on a move away from the King Power at the end of this season.
The Foxes have stepped up their efforts in an attempt to tie down Maddison to a new contract but won’t hesitate to cash in if they can’t make any progress in negotiations.
The England international is the subject of interest from Premier League rivals including Tottenham and Man City.

When asked who of the three clubs Maddison should choose, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I would go to Newcastle.
“He’d play all the time, they are on a journey. I think they will make Europe this year that is for sure.
“They did not know if they were going to be in the league last year. I did not think they would beat Man United but it is the first step, they have got to a final.
“It is a journey I think it would be mad not to go there. He would love it there as well. They are going to buy again and they are going to be better and better and it will not be long before they win a cup.“
