James McClean sent a message to Celtic skipper Scott Brown after playing in his testimonial at Parkhead on Sunday.
Celtic took on Ireland in a match to celebrate Brown’s service for the club and McClean played in the 2-2 draw.
After the game he sent an Instagram message saying that it was an “amazing feeling to play today at paradise in front of the Celtic faithful.”
Football Insider verdict:
McClean loves Celtic and must have relished playing at Parkhead in front of the vocal fans. He would love a move to Celtic and with West Brom relegated, and only 12 months left on his contract, you’d have to think that he’s going to be going somewhere this summer. He signed in 2015 for West Brom from Wigan in a deal worth £1.9million but there’s every chance the 29-year-old would command more now. He’s played 112 games for West Brom and built up a solid reputation, but he’s also got 27 yellow cards in those games. That’s one in every four, which is a big problem that McClean would be taking to his next club. A move to Celtic isn’t out of the question but we’d be saying there’s a much bigger chance if his contract was expiring in the summer. He might not be Brendan Rodgers’ sort of player but we wouldn’t be at all surprised if he ended up in the hoops strip next season.
