Carragher gives his verdict on Mane after stunning Liverpool triumph

Jamie Carragher has claimed that new signing Sadio Mane is exactly the type of player Liverpool needed after he followed up his Barcelona demolition job with another stand-out display against Arsenal.
The jet-heeled winger scored goals in both of his starts against the two European heavyweights but his first competitive strike for the Merseysiders will go down in Anfield folklore.
Mane took the ball on the right flank with his team 3-1 ahead, cut inside, raced past two defenders and curled a left-footed shot past the helpless Petr Cech.
Former Reds defender Carragher was part of the Sky Sports commentary team during the match and gave his verdict on the 24-year-old in the immediate aftermath of the Emirates Stadium showdown.
“He was brought very early and I think people raised eyebrows at the fee, but I think that the longer we go on and the closer we get to the end of August people will think he was a great buy and a fair price,” Carragher said to Sky Sports’ Super Sunday programme.

“You know what it’s like now, people will panic and pay stupid prices for players and on the evidence of this game and let’s not forget last week against Barcelona, even though it was only a friendly, he is exactly what Liverpool needed.”
Mane joined Liverpool in a £34million deal from Premier League rivals Southampton.
The quick attacker starred in 75 encounters on the south coast and scored 24 goals from his attacking midfield position in all competitions.
Football Insider highlighted on Thursday the threat that the Senegal international could be in the match against the Gunners and the wideman impressed fans and pundit alike with his performance.
The Reds are looking to improve on their eighth placed finish from last season without the distraction of European football in this campaign.
Jurgen Klopp will lead his side against newly-promoted Burnley in the Anfield club’s second fixture on Saturday.
In other Liverpool team news, Graeme Souness has stated that defenders Alberto Moreno and Ragnar Klavan worry him.
