Carragher: Liverpool should sign this 70-time international to solve problem area
By Matt Bullin
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has urged Jurgen Klopp to sign 70-time England international Joe Hart this summer.
Hart, is currently enjoying a loan spell at Italian outfit Torino, after not being part of Pep Guerdiola’s plans at Manchester City.
The Shrewsbury-born goalkeeper has made 31 league and cup appearances this season for Torino and has kept five clean sheets and has helped Torino climb to ninth in Serie A.
Liverpool have previously been installed by the bookies favourites to sign the forgotten ‘keeper and Carragher believes he is the answer to their goalkeeping woes.
Speaking in The Mirror, Carragher said of Hart: “For me, Joe Hart ticks all the boxes as the kind of keeper Liverpool need.

“At the moment, Jurgen Klopp has Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.
“One is a very good keeper and the other might develop into a top player. But are they part of the elite? I don’t think so – but Hart definitely is.”
If Klopp is thinking of a move for Hart he will have been buoyed by a recent report from the BBC which said that while Torino would love to keep Hart, they can’t afford him.
Prior to Guardiola’s arrival at the Etihad, Hart, 29, had been City’s number one for a number of seasons, making 348 league and cup appearances for the side.
Football Insider verdict
Hart is a quality goalkeeper and Liverpool will face opposition from the likes of Everton and possibly other Premier League teams if they are to sign him. Despite Mignolet’s performance against Stoke and his improved efforts since Karius’ arrival at Anfield he has still only kept four clean sheets in 22 Premier League games this term. Karius only kept three in his 10 league appearances. Hart won the Premier League Golden Glove award on four occasions as he kept the most clean sheets in the league in 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2014/15. He does not have the best statistics at Torino, but he is playing in a mid-table side, rather than one that is challenging at the top. He is still only 29 and Liverpool would be foolish not to sign him if he is available.
