Jarrod Bowen: Expert issues verdict on Newcastle completing mega-money summer deal after latest
Newcastle would have to pay “a hell of a lot of money” to prise “incredible” forward Jarrod Bowen away from West Ham this summer, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the London Stadium is a “healthier place to be” for the 25-year-old.
According to 90min (8 April), Newcastle are ready to compete with Liverpool for the signature of Bowen – with Eddie Howe supposedly a big fan of the former Hull man.
The report claims talks with the Irons have started over a “new and improved contract” – with the forward’s current deal expiring in June 2025.
Bowen has notched 14 goals and 11 assists in 42 games for West Ham this term.
Whelan claimed the red-hot forward would need some convincing to leave behind potential European football next season.

“At the minute, I think he’s in exactly the right place – the right club, with the right manager,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“That has been clear. The way David Moyes has transformed him from a Championship player into a top Premier League player has been incredible.
“There’s no doubt for me that he’ll be getting that England call-up soon because he’s been a revelation for West Ham.
“For him to be prised away from West Ham, it’s going to take a hell of a lot of money, and a hell of a lot of convincing for the player.
“As much as Newcastle are looking to build a squad which is going to take them up the table – they’ve got no European football, and they don’t have the squad to get European football.
“West Ham is a healthier place to be for Jarrod Bowen.”
