Jarrod Bowen has issued a response to Julen Lopetegui's exit after the Spaniard's sacking from his role as West Ham manager was confirmed.

Lopetegui only joined the Hammers in the summer when he replaced David Moyes in the dugout at the London Stadium.

However, after days of speculation that left many of the club's fans unimpressed with their behaviour, it was confirmed on Wednesday (8 January) that the 58-year-old has left his role.

Now Bowen has given his own reaction to new that Lopetegui is officially no longer his manager at West Ham.

Shortly after his appointment by the club, Lopetegui made the decision to give Bowen the role of captain at the London Stadium.

Now it seems as though that is something that ensures the West Ham winger will always hold the Spaniard in high regard.

Taking to his Instagram story to react to Lopetegui's exit, Bowen posted a picture of the pair together, along with a caption reading:

"You gave me the biggest honour of being captain for you and this team. Thank you for everything boss and good luck for the future".

West Ham

Lopetegui leaves West Ham with the club 14th in the Premier League, seven points clear of the relegation zone after an underwhelming first-half of the season.

Bowen has been one of the bright sparks in that period for the Hammers with five goals and four assists in 19 league games during the current campaign.

He is though currently absent after suffering a fractured foot in the defeat to Liverpool, which he is expected to return from next month.

That means he will be unavailable for as the club begin life under Lopetegui's replacement, which is expected to be former Chelsea and Brighton boss Graham Potter.
