Jarrod Bowen: Man United could explore deal for West Ham star as priority revealed

Jarrod Bowen is on Manchester United’s radar as West Ham United face relegation from the Premier League if results do not go their way this weekend.

Bowen has been a standout for West Ham for a number of years now, but could leave the club this summer if they are relegated.

The Hammers host Leeds on Sunday and need to better Tottenham’s result against Everton to stay in the Premier League.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Man United are among the clubs eyeing Bowen, but he is not a top priority for them this summer.

West Ham’s transfer plans will be hugely affected by relegation, with reports claiming that they will need to raise over £100million in player sales ahead of a return to the Championship.

Man United eyeing Jarrod Bowen move if their transfer plans are adjusted

Bowen has registered eight goals and 10 assists in 37 league games this season, but missed out on a spot in England’s World Cup squad on Friday.

Several top Premier League sides have been linked with his services ahead of the summer, with Man United now entering the race if they look to sign another forward under new permanent boss Michael Carrick.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “For Man United, obviously I don’t think it is a top priority for them to bring in another forward, but if they do, Bowen, I’m sure, is somebody that would be on their radar.

“He’s obviously a versatile attacker as well, can play on both wings, can play as a number nine and is Premier League proven.

“I’m just not sure he fits the profile for the type of player that United are looking at right now, probably because of his age. He’ll be 30 by midway through next season.

“If he does become available for a cut-price fee because of relegation, It’s something I’m sure that United would look at, as all the top clubs in the Premier League would.

“He could definitely be a smart pick up by somebody if West Ham do suffer relegation.”

Man United could also swoop for Mateus Fernandes this summer

Portuguese midfielder Fernandes is another Hammers star who is set to be on the move if they suffer relegation to the Championship.

The 21-year-old has started 34 league games this season, with six goal contributions and impressive statistics across the board.

Sources have exclusively told Football Insider that Man United want to sign Fernandes, with West Ham likely to demand around £50m for his services this summer.

Bowen and Fernandes could each make the move up north to Old Trafford in the coming months, but West Ham will hope to stop the former’s exit by staying up on Sunday.
