Mile Jedinak believes that Henri Lansbury will be one of the most important players for Aston Villa as they look to return to the Premier League next season.

Lansbury was signed from Nottingham Forest by Steve Bruce in the January transfer window in a host of drastic changes to the senior squad which saw the Villains flirt with another relegation battle.

The ex-Arsenal playmaker scored six goals in the opening half of the campaign with Forest, but failed to replicate that form in the West Midlands with Villa as he failed to find the net or craft an assist in 18 appearances.

However that hasn’t stopped Jedinak from having high expectations of the Aston Villa ace, who plays alongside him in the midfield.

“Henri is a real competitor – he never gives an inch,” said the Australian international, as quoted by Villa’s official Twitter account.

“He has a fierce will to win. I know he’ll be a big player for us next season.”

Jedinak was one of the key players as Bruce’s side underwent a revival after the January transfer window slammed shut, but they were also helped by the goal scoring exploits of striker Jonathan Kodjia, who has begun to attract attention from abroad.

Despite breaking his ankle towards the campaign, Turkish news outlet Fotospor has reported that Fenerbahce have held talks with the striker’s agent after scoring 19 goals in 36 Championship appearances last term.

In other Aston Villa news, the club are set to announce the signing of this defender at the weekend.
