Jens Berthel Askou can become Celtic hero already ahead of potential summer appointment
Jens Berthel Askou has been heavily linked to the Celtic job ahead of the summer.
The Motherwell manager has impressed in his first season in Scotland, and looks set to qualify for Europe.
Going into the final games of the season, the Steelmen are looking to confirm a fourth-place finish under Askou in what could be his final matches in charge.
However, with Motherwell set to host Hearts on the weekend, he could make himself a hero at Celtic Park before he has even moved to the club.
With the Scottish Premiership title race going to the wire, a Motherwell victory could go a long way to ensuring Celtic lift the title at the end of the season.

Going into the weekend, it is essentially just Hearts and Celtic in the title race after Rangers’ consecutive defeats.
On Saturday, the Jambos travel to Fir Park, while the Old Firm derby takes place on Sunday.
| Position | Team | Points | Goal difference |
| 1st | Hearts | 76 | 32 |
| 2nd | Celtic | 73 | 27 |
| 3rd | Rangers | 69 | 33 |
However, if Hearts were to lose and Celtic were to win, it could see Martin O’Neill’s side go top of the table on goal difference, handing them the advantage going into the final two matches.
Therefore, if Askou was to mastermind a victory, it would no doubt make him a hero at Celtic, as it could gift them the Scottish Premiership title at the end of the season.
This would no doubt put him in a great position with the fanbase if he were to be brought in, and it could relieve some of the early pressure that comes with the job.
Will Askou be the Celtic manager next season?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Askou is high on Celtic’s shortlist ahead of the summer.
The board have been impressed with what they have seen from the manager so far at Motherwell.
His transformation at the club has established him as one of the best managers in Scotland.
After the failed appointment of Wilfried Nancy, the Celtic board hopes to appoint somebody with more knowledge of the club and the Scottish game.
However, it remains to be seen if the Hoops opt to appoint Askou or will go for another option ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
