Brighton are far from agreeing a deal to sell Jamie Murphy to Rangers or to sign Moussa Dembele in January, according to Sky Sports News presenter Jim White.
The TalkSport host claims that sources inside the Premier League club have revealed that they are “nowhere near” to agreeing a fee to sell fringe player Murphy to the Light Blues while the south-coast side are “yet to have a conversation” with the Bhoys about Dembele.
White detailed the update on the potential January striker deals on his personal Twitter account on Saturday morning.

Sky Sports has recently reported that Rangers are in talks with Brighton about signing striker Murphy in January as Mark Allen looks to bolster the attacking talent on display at Ibrox.
Celtic were moved to dismiss reports earlier this week that an £18million bid was accepted for Dembele from Brighton as speculation about the French striker’s future at Parkhead continues to intensify.
Football Insider verdict
Ahead of Saturday’s Old Firm meeting, it seems that both sides are looking at having a new strike force for next time they meet. Rangers don’t seem to have a lot of funds so a swoop for a Premier League fringe player like Murphy could be quite a good move for them. He has a lot of knowledge of the Scottish Premiership from his time at Motherwell so could be a key player in the second half of the season. Celtic also seem like they might lose Dembele but they must not let him go on the cheap. The ex-Fulham forward is a star in the making and the Hoops should be disappointed if he goes for anything less than £25million.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are officially in talks over a January deal for this midfielder.
