John Egan backed to shine for West Ham after journalist's £12m reveal - pundit
Kevin Campbell is adamant Sheffield centre-back John Egan would be a success at West Ham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal striker said David Moyes “very rarely” gets it wrong with defenders.
According to The Sun‘s Alan Nixon (10 September), the Hammers are planning a £12m move for Egan in the January transfer window.
The Irons are said to have attempted a move for the Republic of Ireland international during the summer transfer window but it was refused by Sheffield United.
Egan has two years left on his deal at Bramall Lane.
Campbell insisted Moyes knows what he’s doing when it comes to signing defenders.

“Very rarely David Moyes gets it wrong with defenders,” he told Football Insider.
“I think you can’t just look at him at Sheff United and think they had a really good first season in the Premier League where they’ve done really well then they didn’t do so well in the second season.
“I think what David Moyes will probably look at is him being in their team. He’s aggressive, he likes to go to the ball, he’s good on the ball. I think he’s looking at him in his squad, with the type of players West Ham have got around him to improve him. That’s the way you have to look at it.
“If he does make the move I think it will be a good move.“
