Former Celtic striker John Hartson has seen reports that Pedro Caixinha has been sacked by Rangers – and took it as a chance to take a swipe at his old rivals.
Hartson joked that Caixinha had been doing a “great” job for the Hoops, with the Gers currently eight points behind them in the Premiership standings and coming nowhere near to beating them in Old Firm derbies since taking charge.
The Scottish Sun reported on Thursday that the Rangers board had taken the decision to sack Caixinha having only hired him seven months ago and handed him a three-year deal.
Hartson has now jokingly claimed that he is gutted to see the Portuguese boss leave Ibrox.
“Pedro Caixinha sacked. Shame, he was doing great for Celtic,” said Hartson on his personal Twitter account.

The Light Blues have been easily beaten by Celtic on each occasion that they’ve played since Caixinha was given the manager’s job.
He has also overseen an embarrassing Europa League exit to Luxembourg minnows Progres Niederkorn and it seems that results this week has really taken the toll on the impatient board at Ibrox.
On Sunday, the Gers were knocked out of the League Cup by Motherwell while on Wednesday Kilmarnock earned a last-gasp point at Ibrox, leaving Rangers eight points behind Premiership leaders Celtic.
