Frank McAvennie has told Celtic to sell Albian Ajeti as one teammate fumes over his recent performances.
The former Celtic hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted that teammate Jonjoe Kenny will be furious with Ajeti’s lack of movement in the box.
Ajeti, 24, has only scored once in his last 13 outings in the Scottish Premiership after starting the season in electric form.
The forward has failed to score in any of the domestic cups or in Europe this season after moving to Celtic last summer for a reported fee of £5million. [Scottish Sun]
McAvennie claims that Kenny is a striker’s dream with the quality of crosses he puts into the penalty area while Ajeti can’t even be bothered to break into a sprint.
“I’m a striker and I look at strikers. I Look at Ajeti and for me, no,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“He’s just not good enough. He’s had enough time and I’m looking at Ajeti and thinking ‘you’re on big money’.
“At least sprint, at least do something. He doesn’t even get involved in the build-up.
“Jonjoe Kenny is firing balls across and he must be furious because it’s terrible for him that people aren’t there for him, he’s a striker’s dream.”
“He needs to go and Celtic should accept even half of what they paid for him.”
Kenny, 24, is on loan at Celtic from Everton and hasn’t missed a minute of Scottish Premiership action since moving to Glasgow with the Hoops only losing one of the nine league games he’s played.
Ajeti has been relegated to a place on the bench in recent weeks but he was brought on during Celtic’s 3-0 win over Falkirk in the Scottish Cup.
