Josip Juranovic tipped to sign new Celtic deal after source's reveal - McAvennie

Frank McAvennie has backed Josip Juranovic to sign a new contract at Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker suggested Juranovic will pen a new deal to provide security in case a January move does not materialise.

On Thursday (17 November), sources told this site that the Celts have given the green light to the 27-year-old for a January exit.

The Parkhead club have tried to secure a new deal for the defender but he is keen to listen to offers from elite clubs.

Celtic are willing to cash in on the Croatia international if their asking price is met and are braced for offers after the World Cup.

Juranovic’s current deal runs until 2026.

McAvennie suggested the Green and Whites may have no choice but to sell.

I think there is not much we can do about it in Scotland,” he told Football Insider.

It is not just Celtic. I think every club is a selling club now. It does not make any difference what contract he is on. If someone comes in and the right money is offered, he will be gone.

If they are offering him a new contract now he should take it. Then Celtic are going to get more money out of it. It is a win-win for the player. If he has got respect for Celtic, and I think he does, then he will sign the contract.

It might never materialise, a move might not happen. He is such a good player and somebody will come in for him somewhere down the line.

He is getting a bit of security if he signs the contract and if he has a good World Cup then he will be gone.
