Journalist reveals imminent Newcastle transfer talks for January after major revelation
Newcastle United are set to hold a meeting over the club’s January transfer recruitment plans on Thursday after the revelation that the club were not denying reports of a takeover deal being close, according to a journalist.
Lee Ryder, the Chronicle’s chief football writer, claims on his personal Twitter account that the Magpies are set to hold talks imminently regarding the January transfer window and their targets, after the major report that the club were closing in on a £300million takeover deal with Amanda Staveley and PCP Capital Partners.
#nufc set to hold a recruitment meeting for January transfers tomorrow. Reports that deal being "close" are not being denied by the club. So Rafa's "good news" 24 hours ago unfolding nicely ????

Ryder revealed that the club had chosen not to deny the reports when pressed, while also referencing a comment manager Rafael Benitez made on Tuesday about some good news in the coming days, which had fans believing he knew more than he let on.
The club endured a difficult transfer window over the summer, with Benitez choosing to publicly voice his frustrations at the Magpies’ failure to secure his top targets, which saw just five new faces through the door at St James’ Park.
The Spanish boss will be hoping to see more recruits arrive in January, with the club, as revealed by Football Insider, readying a swoop for Hannover 96 striker Niclas Füllkrug in the upcoming market, as they look to improve the attacking options at Benitez’s disposal.
In other Newcastle United transfer news, it is reported that a bid has been placed for one of the club’s top attacking targets.
