Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that defensive duo Joel Matip and Lucas Leiva have picked up training-ground knocks this week ahead of Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace, according to a reliable journalist.
James Pearce, of the Liverpool Echo, reported on his personal Twitter account that Klopp said the commanding centre-back had suffered a set-back in the last few days, but hasn’t divulged into any details.

Matip, 25, played alongside Dejan Lovren in the heart of the Liverpool defence as they kept a clean sheet in Sunday’s 1-0 win against West Brom.
Defensive midfielder Lucas also starred in the victory at the Hawthorns but, again, there have been no further details on the extent of his injury.
If Matip and Lucas miss the Palace fixture it would prove to be a huge defensive blow for the Merseyside club.

Lucas’ Anfield contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign but he revealed to the Telegraph that he will enter talks in the summer about a new deal.
Liverpool are currently third in the Premier League table going into Saturday’s home game against Sam Allardyce’s Crystal Palace.
The Eagles have been in great form since the ex-England boss took charge but he will be without pivotal defender Mamadou Sakho, who is ineligible to play against his parent club.
In other Liverpool news, the Reds have made an emphatic decision on the future of this 23-year-old star.
