Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on Adam Lallana after he signed a new three-year contract with Liverpool on Wednesday.
The German explained that the 28-year-old is one of the leading characters in the Anfield dressing room and that it was a no-brainer to offer him a new deal.
The Liverpool player’s new contract will see him earn £110,000-a-week until the summer of 2020.
“For me it was clear we had to try everything to keep a player like him. He is a very important player for us,” Klopp said, as quoted by the Independent.
“Since I’ve been here he has been a really important player for all our development steps which we made – not only for him personally.

“I have a lot of time together with the players but I am not in the dressing room so you need to have players there too and he is one of them.”
Lallana has been at Anfield since moving from Southampton for a fee of £25million in 2014 and after a shaky start to life on Merseyside, he appears to have found his feet this season and has become a star feature in Klopp’s side.
The season began will for the midfielder when he scored one and set up another goal in Liverpool’s 4-3 win at Arsenal on the opening day of the 2016/17 Premier League.
In total he has seven league goals to his name in 23 appearances.
The England international will be hoping Liverpool can get back-to-back wins over Leicester on Monday after having to wait two weeks from their 2-0 win over Tottenham earlier in the month.
Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League but can move up to third place if they can beat the managerless champions at the King Power Stadium.
In other Liverpool news, this 30-year-old should be axed in the club’s best possible XI to play Leicester.
