Kane 'mental state' under the microscope at Tottenham after worrying reveal - Robinson
Paul Robinson has claimed Harry Kane will be under the microscope until he commits his future to Tottenham by signing a new deal.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said the 28-year-old’s performances are only being questioned because of his failed move to Manchester City this summer.
Kane is yet to score in his three Premier League outings this season and struggled in last weekend’s 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.
The England captain, who finished the 2020-21 campaign top of the goal and assist charts, has an xG of just 0.4 in the league this season. (fbref)
Nuno Espirito Santo will be hoping Kane can rediscover his best form today when Chelsea visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Kane’ form, Robinson said: “We are going to talk about this every week now.

“If Kane does not score, make six passes etc. the conversation will be about whether he is focused. Everyone will be asking, ‘Where’s his head at?’
“Kane’s future is still up in the air. Yes, he is still at Spurs but he has not committed his future to Spurs, far from it.
“He has had a couple of indifferent games and straight away everyone is questioning his mental state.
“Does he want to be there? Until he signs a new deal it will be a topic of conversation. People would not be questioning his performances if he signed a new deal. But because his future is uncertain he is under the spotlight.”
