Karren Brady has claimed in The Sun that Alexis Sanchez will be sold by Arsenal for £50million this summer.
The outspoken vice-chairman of West Ham says from her experience of two-and-a-half decades in football administration there is little chance of the Gunners star man staying.
Sanchez will soon enter the final year of his contract and talks over an extension have failed to reach an agreement amid reports that the forward is holding out for a massive pay rise.
Brady believes Arsenal are in a difficult situation and is not convinced by manager Arsene Wenger’s claims that Sanchez will be held to his contract if the two parties cannot thrash out a new deal.
She pointed out that American owner Stan Kroenke will not allow such a valuable asset to be worth nothing in 12 months’ time.
“STICK or twist? That’s the Arsenal dilemma over Alexis Sanchez,” Brady wrote in her weekly Sun diary column on Tuesday of this week.
“The Chilean forward is demanding weekly gushers of money to stay.
“Manager Arsene Wenger says, if the worst came to the worst, he’d stick with Sanchez until his contract runs out next summer.
“But what of the likely £50million Arsenal will sacrifice by not selling fairly soon. That isn’t Kroenke mathematics.
“If the player is determined to go, then in my experience he will.”
Sanchez has been Arsenal’s outstanding player this season although, like many of his teammates, he has been far less effective in the second half of the campaign.
Nevertheless, the versatile forward has scored 24 goals and supplied 18 assists from 44 matches in all competitions, with 19 of his goals coming in the Premier League.
Arsenal are next in action on Sunday when they make the short journey to Tottenham for the final north London derby at White Hart Lane.
In other Arsenal transfer news, the club have sensationally terminated the contract of one of their defenders.
