West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady has shockingly claimed that Liverpool's out-of-form striker Daniel Sturridge has the similar amount of talent as Tottenham's Harry Kane.

Kane, 24, has been on fire in recent weeks for Spurs, scoring 11 goals in 9 appearances across all competitions despite not finding the net once in August.

Seven of his strikes have come in his last three outings across the Premier League and Champions League, leading to suggestions that the Tottenham star is one of the greatest English forwards to grace the top-flight.

Brady has waxed lyrical about Kane in her column on the Sun website in which she dubs the Tottenham striker as "priceless" to manager Mauricio Pochettino.

However surprisingly, she believes that he possesses a similar level of talent to Sturridge, who has only scored three goals in this calendar year after a rotten run of form with Liverpool.

"Clean sheets are loved by coaches, football educators and teams who can’t score," she said.

"I guess that’s why so many people like to watch Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool — they are full of swashbucklers.

"Even Daniel Sturridge, perhaps the only English striker with Kane’s talent, is seen far more often in one of those comfy seats that have replaced the old-style bench than on the field."

Sturridge has been out of sorts in the Premier League for some while, perhaps losing a lot of his ability due to constant injury woes that have left him sidelined and lose his place to Roberto Firmino.

The ex-Chelsea striker is in the current England squad but he did little to show Gareth Southgate that he would be anywhere near to taking Kane's starting spot after a futile display in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Sunday.
