West Ham’s vice-chairman Karren Brady has made the shocking revelation that she will be cheering on the club’s London rivals Tottenham in the Premier League title race.
Spurs have been involved in the hunt for the top flight crown for two successive seasons now, first seeing themselves beaten to it by shock victors Leicester before being left in the wake to finish as runners up to Chelsea during the last campaign.
They will be looking to be among the front runners yet again and they have secured themselves an unexpected supporter in the form of the Hammers’ Brady.
The 48-year-old says that she has been impressed by the way that Mauricio Pochettino has got the team playing, and that their strong English core means she wants to see them succeed despite the local rivalry.
Writing in her column for the Sun, she said: “I admit I am jealous of the current Spurs side.
“Not only for their consistently watchable style of play but for unearthing several of the country’s most accomplished young players
“The cock should be crowing for Spurs. Newly resplendent in a year’s time, White Hart Lane will ring in their name, as always.
“I’d rather like to see them upset the foreign spendthrifts and do it (win the Premier League title).”
West Ham were unable to stop Spurs taking three points at the London Stadium on Saturday, with Harry Kane’s brace firing Pochettino’s side to a 3-2 victory.
The England striker continued his fine form into their European campaign, netting a hat trick, his sixth of 2017, to secure a 3-0 win over Apoel Nicosia in Cyprus on Tuesday.
In other Tottenham news, Kane has upset his team mates after refusing to do something behind the scenes.
