Nottingham Forest will try and sign Keinan Davis permanently from Aston Villa if they get promoted, Football Insider understands.

But a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Forest will be in pole position to land Davis if they reach the holy grail of Premier League promotion.

The forward has made a big impact on loan at the City Ground and is eager to play regularly in the top flight.

Villa are plotting a huge summer overhaul and Steven Gerrard will give the green light to Davis leaving if a club meets their asking price.

The Villans are likely to demand around £4million for his sale this summer.

Davis joined Forest on loan in January and has become a first-team regular under manager Steve Cooper.

The Villa academy product has netted five goals in 19 appearances, with three assists under his belt.

He impressed in Forest's FA Cup run, which saw them beat Arsenal, Leicester City and Huddersfield before losing to Liverpool.

His performances have convinced the Championship outfit to pursue a permanent deal should they seal promotion this season.

Nottingham Forest currently sit fifth in the second-tier table.

They are five points clear of those sides outside the play-off spots.

The forward has played 86 times for the Villans, with six goals and seven assists to his name.
