Rangers attacker Kai Kennedy has rejected the club's offer of a new contract, Football Insider understands.

This has placed the highly rated 18-year-old's future in major doubt amid interest from the Premier League and European elite.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that the club have been trying to tie Kennedy down to a long-term agreement but he has knocked back their offer.

Rangers have offered Kennedy a big pay rise as well as a contract longer than the three-year one he signed when he turned 16.

That deal expires in the summer of 2021.

Steven Gerrard has assured the the youngster he figures prominently in his plans for next season and regards him capable of being a star of the future.

The Rangers boss hailed Kennedy as a "fabulous little player" when he made the senior squad for the first time in November.

Kennedy is predominantly a left-winger but has also played for Rangers' youth teams in various attacking positions, including as a number 10.
