Saudi Pro League clubs are not ready to act on their interest in Man City superstar Kevin de Bruyne in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

But a well-placed source has told Football Insider that "nothing will happen" in the January window with regards to a potential switch.

The Saudi interest in De Bruyne was put on the backburner after his serious hamstring injury.

He sustained the problem in the first game of the 2023-24 campaign and is only just returning to training ahead of a full recovery.

The five-time Premier League winner made 49 total appearances last term, notching 10 goals and 31 assists in a stellar season as City won a historic treble.

De Bruyne, who turns 33 in June, is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium in June 2025 and no progress has been made on a new deal.

Saudi Pro League clubs have emerged as a force in world football in recent years, bringing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Neymar to the Middle East.

The Belgium international features highly on their list of top targets after his years of dominance in the Premier League with Pep Guardiola's side.

Man City

De Bruyne could make his return to action for City against Huddersfield in the FA Cup on Sunday (7 January).

Guardiola's side are third in the Premier League - five points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.
