Kevin De Bruyne has held talks with the MLS over a potential move to the USA as his Man City contract runs down, David Ornstein has reported for The Athletic.

The midfielder is out of contract at The Etihad Stadium in the summer, ensuring his future is currently up in the air with several options available.

One of those is Major League Soccer, where it is thought he has held talks with both clubs, and centrally with the league itself, a move to America.

It is noted that most teams at that level would jump at the chance to sign the Man City man and would be prepared to shift current designated stars to make space for him.

There is also the option of a move to Saudi Arabia, where a PIF-backed club such as Al Nassr or Al Ahli would be the likely outcome.

De Bruyne's other option is still to remain at Man City, where it is said it would be a simple process to secure a new deal, most likely for another 12 months, if he tells the club he wants to stay.

Man City coming to a decisive point over Kevin De Bruyne future

Football Insider Opinion

It may not be long until we find out exactly what the midfielder is going to be doing beyond the end of this season.

De Bruyne has been back in action in recent weeks with some outings off the bench, but has been unable to get much of a chance to rectify the poor form Pep Guardiola's side have been enduring.

Some may hope that his return can help to turn things around, but this uncertainty over his contract situation could be a distraction.

There will also be a question over whether he can still make that impact at 33-years-old and after so many injuries.

If he can, then there will surely be a fresh push from the club to get him to sign a new deal.

But given he can sign pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs from January, time is running out for Man City to make that happen.
