Kevin de Bruyne is keen to hold talks over signing a new contract at Man City with his future up in the air, sources have told Football Insider.

The attacking midfielder's current contract expires in the summer of 2025, with interest from Saudi Arabia providing an option for his long-term future.

De Bruyne, 32, wants to know where he fits into City's plans both next season and beyond, as well as the terms on offer where he to stay.

Football Insider reported in March that the two parties had postponed talks over a new deal until the end of the season, with those talks now set to resume face to face.

Sources also say that Pep Guardiola is "desperate" to keep his star man at the club.

The Belgian playmaker struggled with injuries throughout the season, featuring just 26 times in all competitions as he picked up six goals and 18 assists in that time.

His return towards the end of the Premier League season was pivotal to City's title charge, with his ten assists in 18 league games key to getting his team over the finish line.

Having arrived at the Etihad from Wolfsburg in 2015 for £54.5million, he has since made 382 appearances for the club, winning six Premier League titles, five League Cups, two FA Cups, a Club World Cup and a Champions League trophy.

Football Insider reported in March that the club are braced for a bid upwards of £100million for his services if Saudi clubs are to make their move, which would represent a large profit on their investment.

Speculation has also emerged surrounding Guardiola's future, with experts telling Football Insider he will step down next summer.
