Kevin Phillips has revealed he “knows for a fact” major clubs are looking to sign West Ham attacker Grady Diangana this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England striker explained how top teams are keeping a close eye on the winger, who has made such a big impact at his former club West Brom on loan.
Diangana has been instrumental in West Brom’s promotion push this season, scoring five goals and supplying six assists from 20 Championship matches.
Phillips is in no doubt the left-sided attacker is destined for regular Premier League football but says that may not be at his parent club.
Asked by Football Insider if he expects Diangana to be in the West Ham team next season, Phillips said: “Possibly. If West Brom were to go up I’m sure they would try and add him to the squad but these two players, Diangana and Pereira as well, two fantastic signings that have made a huge difference to West Brom and the Championship.
“I know for a fact there’s other clubs looking at them so we just hope that they perform, continue to perform from now until the end of the season and get West Brom promoted.”
West Ham had an option to activate a mid-season recall clause in Diangana’s season-long loan this month but had to do so in the first two weeks of the window.
That means the 21-year-old will remain at the Hawthorns for the rest of the campaign.
In other West Ham news, agent whispers suggest the club are well placed to sign midfielder proven in the Premier League.
