'Where do they unearth these players from?' - Exclusive: Kevin Phillips in awe of Celtic gem

Kevin Phillips has hailed Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard as an absolute gem and further proof of the club’s “incredible” recruitment.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Russell Edge, the ex-England striker and Premier League coach hailed the Scottish champions for their work in the transfer market.

Edouard, 22, was signed on an initial loan by Celtic in the summer of 2017 before he became their record signing at £9million a year later.

He is now valued at around three times that amount after developing into a top-class striker eyed enviously by Europe’s leading clubs.

Asked for his verdict on Edouard, Phillips told Football Insider: “It’s amazing how many players play for Celtic that go on to great things. Where do they unearth these players from?

“It’s just incredible, they’ve obviously got a great scouting network and their recruitment department must be very, very good.”
