Kieran McKenna has made his mind up on Celtic as Parkhead board sounds out Ipswich manager
Kieran McKenna is set to snub any advances from either Crystal Palace or Fulham this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Ipswich Town boss is firmly on the radar at both Selhurst Park and Craven Cottage, but he has little interest in taking up either opportunity in the coming months.
The 39-year-old remains committed to the project at Portman Road, and sources have indicated that he is keen to take on the challenge of the Premier League with the Tractor Boys once again.
McKenna has also been linked with a move to Celtic in recent months, but it is understood that any chance of a deal has now become “out of reach” for the Bhoys after Ipswich’s promotion.
The newly-promoted outift have dealt with plenty of interest in their boss in recent years, and they are armed and ready to fend it off once again ahead of next season.
Crystal Palace to accelerate towards ‘massive coup’ for new manager
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider earlier this week that Palace are closing in on Andoni Iraola as their new boss, with the departing Bournemouth chief still their top target.
The former recruitment boss suggested that there is a “good chance” that the Eagles get their move for the Spaniard over the line, despite strong interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
| Manager | Games | W | D | L | Win % |
| Oliver Glasner | 86 | 31 | 28 | 27 | |
| Andoni Iraola | 112 | 41 | 36 | 35 | |
| Kieran McKenna | 38 | 4 | 10 | 24 |
Iraola has the Cherries firmly in the hunt for European football for next term, but he has already confirmed that his long-term future lies away from the Vitality Stadium.
Crystal Palace have already held talks with him in their bid to propose a new challenge for him this summer, and Brown expects those discussions to continue to advance towards a deal.
The 43-year-old’s impressive work on the South Coast has made him a hot commodity of late, and Brown is clear that he feels it would be a “massive coup” if Palace were to land him to replace Oliver Glasner.
McKenna is among the names who are on the Eagles’ list if their move for Iraola falls through, but it is looking increasingly likely that they will not be needed.
Fulham face fresh Marco Silva interest from abroad
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Benfica are plotting a move for Marco Silva this summer, with Jose Mourinho looking increasingly likely to return to Real Madrid.
The Portuguese is out of contract at Craven Cottage this summer, and has been subject to a whole host of interest, as clubs line up moves to take him without compensation.
Silva’s future in West London has been unclear for some time now, but with Benfica’s interest now emerging, the Cottagers may yet need their shortlist of alternatives.
McKenna features heavily on that, but the club hierarchy look set to find it difficult to prise him away from Ipswich, with his stance regarding his future already clear.
