Newcastle United are braced for bids for star defender Kieran Trippier before the transfer window closes, sources have told Football Insider.

The 33-year-old remains a key man for the Magpies but has less than 12 months to run on his contract at St James' Park.

That means interested clubs are likely to test Newcastle's resolve in the final stages of the summer window.

Sources say Eddie Howe is open to keeping Trippier - who was his first signing at Newcastle following the Saudi-backed takeover in 2021.

But Saudi Pro League clubs are now preparing to bring the England international to the Middle East with a big-money offer.

Trippier made six appearances for the Three Lions at the European Championships but was left on the bench for the final - which saw Gareth Southgate's side defeated 2-1 by Spain.

He made 39 appearances for Newcastle across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign and wore the captain's armband for the majority of the season.

The right-back registered one goal and 11 assists in those outings.

Newcastle are covered in the right-back area after signing Tino Livramento from Southampton last summer (2023).

Trippier is yet to return for pre-season training after his involvement with England in Germany at Euro 2024.
