Liverpool have a "big problem" in midfield and Jurgen Klopp will be looking to rectify it over the international break.

That is the view of former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Liverpool's leaky defence.

The Reds have conceded eight goals in their last three fixtures across all competitions.

Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones and Fabinho have started all three of those games.

Robinson suggested the trio have been the primary cause of Liverpool's defensive problems, as opposed to their back four.

"The midfield is a big problem area for Liverpool at the moment," he told Football Insider's Dylan Childs. "It is not as strong as Klopp would want it to be.

"One of the reasons they've been conceding so many is the midfield. The defence is being got at far too easily.

"If they are to compete with Man City and Chelsea for the title they need to address that. You cannot keep conceding that many goals every week.

"I'm sure it's something Klopp and his staff have held meetings about this week. They will be looking to rectify that problem over the international break. To win titles you need to keep clean sheets.

"Thiago [Alcantara] has looked a different player this season and when he returns from injury, he plays."

Thiago has been sidelined since the 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace on September 18th.

The Spain international is expected to return to action in mid-October.
