Klopp delivers glowing verdict on display of Liverpool defender against Man United

Jurgen Klopp has hailed the performance of Trent Alexander-Arnold against Manchester United as “brilliant.”
The 18-year-old defender made his first start in the Premier League during the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford after Nathaniel Clyne was forced to miss the clash through injury.
Alexander-Arnold had made just one other league appearance prior to his place in the starting XI against United but he has impressed during cup clashes against Plymouth, Leeds and Tottenham.
The youngster was up against United winger Anthony Martial for the majority of the game and despite a few nervous moments in the opening stages, the defender grew into the game and produced a terrific display at right-back.
When asked about Alexander-Arnold’s performance, Klopp said, as quoted by the Mirror: “Nice, eh?” Then he went on to say, “It was clear in the beginning. Then you see Anthony Martial, one of the quickest players in the Premier League, in the first two situations it was difficult and he needed a little bit of time to adapt.

“But then he did brilliantly. All the boys like him and so they wanted to help him.”
Alexander-Arnold has been hailed by many as one of Liverpool’s brightest talents and he has grown up through the Reds’ academy in Kirby alongside some other break-through stars.
He is best friends with fellow youngster Ben Woodburn who became the club’s youngest ever goal-scorer during the 2-0 EFL Cup quarter-final victory against Leeds earlier this season.
The full-back is versatile and can play as a winger or a midfielder as well as his preferred full-back role and he has played in all positions for the under-23s squad regularly under Michael Beale before his departure.
In other Liverpool news, Alexander-Arnold posted a Twitter message following his display.
