Liverpool are ready to sell at least six senior players for £100million this summer and hand Jurgen Klopp a further purse of £100million in a massive squad overhaul, according to a report.
The Liverpool Echo claim Klopp will sanction a total refurbishment of the team even though they are well placed to secure a top-four Premier League finish.
It is said that the Merseyside giants are ready to sell senior men Mamadou Sakho, Alberto Moreno, Daniel Sturridge, Lazar Markovic, Lucas Leiva and Kevin Stewart.
The Liverpool Echo estimate defender Sakho will raise £30million, proven Premier League striker Sturridge would sell for around £20million and midfielder Markovic and left-back Moreno £15million apiece.
With other fringe players and youngsters, the total funds accumulated are set to rise to £100million.
American owners Fenway Sports Group are ready to hand Klopp all the proceeds of sales as well as a further £100million to take the total kitty available to £200million.
The Liverpool Echo report that there is a recognition among the hierarchy of the need to speculate to accumulate in order to push strongly for the title as well as compete in the Champions League.
Klopp’s side have delivered a promising campaign in which they have totalled 63 points from 32 league games to be positioned third in the table.
They will need a strong finish to be assured of a place in next season’s Champions League group stages, as Manchester United won 3-0 against Sunderland on Sunday to keep their own top-four hopes alive.
