Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie believes that the race for the Championship title isn’t over yet and Wolves can still be caught at the top of the table.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had a nine-point advantage going into the weekend’s fixture away at Craven Cottage against Fulham and looked nailed on certainties to win the league.
But a 2-0 defeat to Fulham saw the gap reduced to six with some tricky fixtures ahead.
Wolves have trips to Leeds United and Aston Villa in March and Hendrie explained on his personal Twitter account that Wolves could be caught in the battle at the pinnacle due to the run-in they have.
The ex-midfielder asked his Twitter followers whether or not they thought that Villa’s rivals could be caught.
And then followed up on his own Tweet by saying that, ‘they can be with the fixtures they have left.’
Hendrie’s former club saw a return to winning ways at the weekend with an important victory away at Sheffield Wednesday to put them ten points off the top spot.
But it would seem that Wolves are in the midst of a miniature slump given their recent run of results – the Molineux outfit have not won in their last three league outings and have picked up just eight points out of a possible 15.
Nuno’s side will face Reading at home on Saturday and expect to get all maximum points from the fixture as failure to do so could see the gap cut to three and confidence at a season-long low.
