Leeds United have the option to recall midfielder Ouasim Bouy from his loan spell at Cultural Leonesa and may well execute it after being angered by his lack of game time in the Spanish second-tier, according to a reliable journalist.

BBC journalist Adam Pope claimed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday that a double deal is potentially on the cards for January which sees Bouy, 24, recalled to Elland Road and then shipped out elsewhere for the second half of the season.

The former Juventus midfielder, who signed for Leeds on a free transfer in the summer, has made just four appearances across all competitions with Segunda Division side Leonesa and it is understood that the Yorkshire giants are not pleased about the agreement.

Bouy penned a four-year deal with Leeds in the summer after his release from Juventus but was instantly loaned out to Leonesa as it seems that the Dutch enforcer is viewed as a signing for the future.

Spanish news outlet Reyournal has recently reported that that Leonesa are looking to bolster their squad in the January transfer window, but to be able to do so, they must free up some of their wage budget and could send defensive midfielder Bouy back to Elland Road.

Football Insider verdict

Leeds’ decision to sign Bouy was a strange one and was perhaps more done to create a stronger link between them and Leonesa, who is linked to the Aspire Academy where Victor Orta has ties. However with just four appearances under his belt, Bouy’s loan there will have perhaps burn more bridges than ones that are built in this Anglo-Spanish partnership. What makes the signing of Bouy more odd is that it has been widely reported recently that Japan international Yosuke Ideguchi has agreed to join Leeds in January. Although he will be loaned out until the end of the season with the view to him being a signing for next campaign, the Whites have a huge wealth of talent in midfield – perhaps way too much.
