Leeds backed to seal signing of ex-West Brom star Yokuslu as agent reveals 'interest'
Noel Whelan has heaped praise on Celta Vigo’s Turkey international Okay Yokuslu as Leeds United reportedly plot a move.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and Middlesbrough striker claimed the 27-year-old “would enhance” Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.
According to Spanish outlet Elesmarque (June 15), Yokuslu is of interest to Leeds, Crystal Palace and West Brom this summer.
As quoted by the same publication, the midfielder’s agent, Batur Altiparmak, told Turkish TV “three of four teams” are ‘interested’ in his client.
Yokuslu, who spent the second half of the 2020-21 campaign on loan at West Brom, has two years remaining on his contract at his parent club Celta Vigo.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Yokuslu would be a welcome addition at Elland Road, Whelan said:

“He showed a lot of promise for West Brom last season.
“There is going to be a lot of speculation about his future given that West Brom got relegated last season. I cannot see him returning there.
“There is no doubt Leeds are in for another midfielder this summer. We need more strength in depth in the midfield even though Robin Koch has proven that he can play the deeper role if needed.
“Yokuslu would have liked to have put himself in the shop window with Turkey but that wasn’t really the case.
“Yokuslu is an international and it is great to see Leeds looking at players of his calibre. We are moving in the right direction. Yokuslu could be a smart signing as he would enhance what we have.”
