Leeds United are set to battle Brighton for Genoa right-back Aleandro Rosi as his contract winds down according to a report.
Tuttomercatoweb reports that the Whites are interested in the 30-year-old defender, who has caught Brighton’s attention in the Premier League, but Genoa are keen to renew the defender’s contract.
Rosi has been at Genoa since 2014, but has been loaned out several times to other Italian teams.
The right-back’s current deal finishes at the end of the season and after breaking into Genoa’s first team this year, the club are keen to keep him.
The defender has made 15 appearances for Genoa this season across all competitions, featuring on the right of midfield.
Rosi is naturally a right-back but has also featured at left-back, left-wing, right-wing and centre midfield ahead of this season.
Football Insider Verdict
Rosi has been utilised almost everywhere on the football field, and his versatility could be key for Leeds’ promotion push. As the fixtures come thick and fast, Leeds United would benefit having Rosi in the squad who could provide cover for several positions. The defender has also played hundreds of games across his long career, and will provide priceless experience. However, the downside of the deal regarding the player is that the defender has not played in England, so there’s a question mark over how quick he could adapt to the fast-paced Championship. The other issue surrounding the deal is that with Brighton interested, the defender might prefer a move to the Premier League.
