Leeds could accept 'absolutely massive' Raphinha offer as ex-manager reveals all

Alex McLeish has claimed Leeds United could accept an “absolutely massive” bid for Raphinha in January.

However, the former Aston Villa boss, speaking exclsuviely to Football Insider, insists the Whites can’t afford to lose the Brazilian.

Football Insider first broke the news of Liverpool’s interest in Raphinha on 6 February and this site has updated to reveal they are continuing to closely monitor the attacker’s situation.

Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari has since reported Manchester City have joined Liverpool and Manchester United in the hunt for the Leeds ace.

McLeish insists there is still interest in a potential January move for Raphinha but claimed Leeds “simply can’t let that happen”.

“Losing Bamford through injury is bad enough,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Losing Raphinha as well? Leeds simply can’t let that happen.

“That will decimate Bielsa’s squad. It gives him a real issue.

“He is the heartbeat of that team, he’s absolutely brilliant to watch.

“They can’t let him go in January if they want to stay up, it’s that simple.

“Not having Bamford or Raphinha in there creates such an uphill task for Bielsa.

“It would have to be an absolutely massive bid from one of these clubs in January, but that could happen. You can never rule it out, can you?”

Raphinha has scored four Premier League goals this season.

He has only missed one league game with the Whites 15th in the top flight.
