Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen has confirmed that Stuart Dallas and Caleb Ekuban will both miss Tuesday night’s League Cup clash against Leicester at the King Power Stadium.
Dallas, 26, flew home to Northern Ireland last week and missed the Saturday win over Bristol City due to a family bereavement while Ekuban, 23, has been on the sidelines since August after picking up an injury in the win at Sunderland.
Christiansen has suggested that he will make changes to his side ahead of the League Cup tie in the East Midlands by also announcing that loanee Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is in contention to start.
However it is no doubt a bit of a blow for him to be without the duo of Dallas and Ekuban, having called on both of them in the early rounds of the competition.
“Stuart Dallas will again be missing after his family bereavement. Gaetano Berardi is suspended and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson will definitely be in the squad. Caleb Ekuban is the only injury,” said Christiansen, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post in their live blog of his pre-match press conference on Monday.
Dallas has made 14 appearances across all competitions for Leeds this season but has only started four times, with three of them in the League Cup.
He has scored two goals and supplied one assist in the process and his professionalism and experienced head may come as a bit of a miss to the Whites this week against a tough Premier League side.
Ekuban has only played twice for the Yorkshire giants before his untimely injury blow that has no doubt scuppered his start to life at Elland Road.
The ex-Chievo forward did score on his debut though in the 4-1 hammering of Port Vale in August.
In other Leeds United news, Noel Whelan has brandished this Whites player as being overweight.
