Leeds expected 4-2-3-1 v Aston Villa: Goalscorer axed in double switch

By Emma Sanders

Garry Monk is expected to make two changes to the side which recorded a 4-1 victory against Preston on Boxing Day when they take on Aston Villa.

Chris Wood and Ronaldo Vieira are expected to replace Souleymane Doukara and Kalvin Phillips in the starting XI at Villa Park.

Monk opted to use 21-year-old Phillips against Preston but could give Vieira his 20th appearance of the season in the centre of midfield alongside Liam Bridcutt.

Wood came on as a substitute in the 4-1 victory and will be searching for his 15th goal of the campaign as he is expected to return to the starting XI.

Doukara is likely to be axed despite scoring against Preston, while Stuart Dallas retains his place as part of an attacking trio which should also see Kemar Roofe and Hadi Sacko handed another start.

The back four should remain the same, with Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley continuing to provide solid cover in the centre-backs roles.

Robert Green is the obvious choice for the number one spot and Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi are expected to start at right-back and left-back respectively.
