Leeds fans besiege Radrizzani with angry messages after Monk claim

By Harvey Byrne

Leeds fans have besieged the club’s co-owner Andrea Radrizzani with angry messages on Twitter after he claimed Garry Monk was in full agreement with the club’s January business.

The Yorkshire giants went into the winter window in good spirits and fans hoped that the club would strengthen in order to push on from their fourth placing in the Championship table in order to try and end their 13-year wait for top-flight football.

However, the club made just one permanent signing in January in the form of Pablo Hernandez, who signed after impressing in a loan deal in the first half of the campaign.

The club also brought in wing duo Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow, but after the club fell down to seventh place following their defeat to Wolves on Monday with three matches of the season left supporters on social media were highly critical of the club’s lack of winter activity.

This brought active social media user and joint-owner Radrizzani to defend himself via his personal Twitter account on Monday afternoon and he claimed that the everything was done with the agreement of Monk in the winter.

But, sections of the Leeds fan base on social media refused to believe Radrizzani’s words and aired criticism towards the Italian.

One fan recalled Monk’s quotes about the transfer window needing to better organised in the future alongside expecting a direct replacement for the departing Alex Mowatt, while another brought up that Leeds were reportedly interested in Ashley Fletcher and Sergi Canos.
