Leeds United midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi has been axed from the Japan squad for their upcoming friendlies – and fans have taken to Twitter en masse to destroy the club over their treatment of the player.
The Championship giants signed 11-time Japan international Ideguchi from Gamba Osaka in January for a fee of around £500,000 before he was loaned straight out to Serie B side Cultural Leonesa.
Leeds initially decided to loan Ideguchi out to partner club Leonesa because they did not believe he would be granted a work permit immediately by the FA.
However, the 21-year-old did eventually receive the relevant paperwork but the loan deal went ahead as it had already been agreed in principle.
Leeds director of football Victor Orta explained the move to Spain as an opportunity for Ideguchi to get more game time and begin his adaptation to European football.
However, Ideguchi has so far been given just 107 minutes spread across five matches for Leonesa and he has not even made the squad for their last two fixtures.
This has prompted his omission from the latest Japan squad to face Ukraine and Mali in friendly matches in the forthcoming international break.
Leeds fans have now taken to Twitter to express their anger at what they claim was the club’s blunder in loaning Ideguchi out to Spain.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Ideguchi has been left out of the Japan squad for the upcoming friendlies against Ukraine and Mali.
You have royally stitched the kid up Leeds. #lufc

Yosuke Ideguchi has played just 109 minutes of football at Cultural Leonesa since his January loan move. Now left out of Japan's latest squad. Seemed an illogical loan move in January given the fact he was granted a UK work permit by the FA. Even more embarrassing now. #LUFC pic.twitter.com/BALpr3wc1j

We’ve wrecked his career and he hasnt even played for us yet! Remarkable even by our standards!

He must be quite annoyed. He would have been better staying in J League then trusting the Orta plan to condition him for life at #lufc in the English Championship by sending him to Spain. Poor lad. Imagine his motivation when he finally comes to the happy camp at Thorp Arch!!!

Some people don’t realise that moving to a new country as a young lad and not being able to speak the language might be slightly unsettling.
We’ve decided to put him through that twice.
Geniuses at work #lufc

Most bizarre move ever to sign him & send him on loan there. Means he's got to get used to the spanish culture then ours. At least if he was at #lufc it would keep his profile high & lets face it, he can't be much worse than what we have.

This deal gets more and more bizarre it’s never made sense at all?!
