Leeds United fans have lost their minds on social media after it was confirmed their under-18 side had won the Premier League Professional Development League north title on Saturday.

The Whites’ youngsters went into the last game of the regular season knowing that victory over Bolton Wanderers would secure them top spot in the northern arm of the competition, and it was Hoskun Temenuzhkov’s first half header which secured the three points, lifting them above the Trotters into first place.

The push for the title had come thanks to a late burst of form from the under-18 side, with seven successive victories culminating with their eighth on Saturday, and it means that both Leeds and Bolton qualify for the play-off round where they will take on Charlton Athletic, who finished second behind Crystal Palace in the southern tier of the competition.

Leeds fans were left delighted to see their young talents succeeding while their senior side struggle, with some asking whether the under-18 side were able to step straight into the first team.
